Below are four commonly asked questions (and answers) that can help you understand the benefits and logistics of Pilates:

Not at all. Pilates is designed to build core strength gradually. Instructors will show modifications and progressions to match your current fitness level.

Mat Pilates uses bodyweight resistance and small props to target core muscles, while Reformer Pilates involves a specialized machine for added resistance and variety. Both focus on alignment, control, and proper breathing.

Wear form-fitting, comfortable workout clothes so the instructor can see your alignment. Grippy socks are often recommended or required in Reformer classes. Typically, all necessary equipment (mats, Reformers, props) is provided.

Consistency is key. Many people notice increased strength and improved posture after two to three sessions per week. The more regularly you practice, the quicker you’ll build core stability, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
